Magenta

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, angular trunk covered in very thick, silky, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is brown.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of large, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the edges and cream at the center.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, pink blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like petrol.

In mid-summer it produces small, pleated fruit. The crispy magenta skin is tough and sweet and sour, and the very soft vibrant orange flesh is sweet and powdery. The hazel seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
