Sunfire
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)This enormous flower grows up to 7.2 feet (2.2 meters) tall. Its yellow-green stems grow in bunches of 7 and are very thick and straight, and the small, yellow-green leaves are light brown on the underside and are thin with wavy edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Each stem splits 3 to 8 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 141 cm (55.5 inches) wide, with petals that are generally vibrant orange; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is largely flat with several widely spaced narrow petals. They fall easily.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like marzipan, and it has lots of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
