Caramel Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 130 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow-brown.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of leathery, large, long, tapering leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, beige and drab green varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, orange blossoms with pleated petals. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like a woman.

In late summer it forms small, bronze, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
