Coniapple

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 28 feet (8.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, dark brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.

The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of giant, spear shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are cream on the edges and amber at the center.

In early spring, it produces several small, indigo blossoms with 3 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a soft scent that smells like ashes.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The rubbery magenta skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is spicy, and the crunchy blood red flesh is bitter and salty and syrupy. The light green seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It can flourish even in standing water.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
