Spinebloom
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large caudiciform grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is burgundy, and is covered in copious amounts of fine, grey, hair-like spines. The twisting, green trunk can grow to as much as 16 feet (4.9 meters) in diameter at the top. Its crimson branches are short and slender and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.
The very large amounts of ripped-edged, wispy leaves are a shade of orange-yellow that gradient shifts to azure at the top. They are flexible, and take little effort to detach.
It is steady-growing, taking 21 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with solid dark grey petals decorated with blue lines and a olive central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like rotten egg.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the beige flesh is rough, and the white sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
