Burgundyfern
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This giant tree grows up to 106 meters (347.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 167 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in silky, dark gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy.
The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of fuzzy, tiny, finger-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of yellow that gradient shifts to amber at the top.
In early spring, it produces dozens of small, olive blossoms with 3 cylindrical shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like blood.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, green aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
