Serpentwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 577 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in very thick, rough, brown-green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The numerous branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of soft, giant, sickle shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in slate and hazel varieties.

In late summer it forms tiny, sky blue berries.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
