Violetberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in delicate, cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is yellow.

The small bunches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of small, needle-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are light brown and slate.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, violet blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like apple.

In late autumn it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The leathery hazel skin is thick and sweet, and the very soft crimson flesh is sour and dry. The bold green seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
