Slateleaf Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This enormous tree grows up to 100 meters (328.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 523 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, dark gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of smooth, giant, asymmetrical leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are slate on the edges and light grey at the center.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, light brown aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The leaves are overwhelmingly toxic, and very savoury.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
