Crimson Glow

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is very thick, and the miniature, yellow leaves are sickle shaped with jagged edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

2 to 4 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid black petals decorated with olive lines and a crimson central disk. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. They are hardy.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like lavender, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
