Burgundyfern
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 113 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in hard, ridged, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow.
The tangled mess of branches are short stubs, with hundreds of twigs covered with large amounts of large, copper needles. The needles themselves are sturdy.
In late summer it produces small, light grey, shelled seeds.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
