Crimson Petalvine
Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its pink-red stem is thick and straight with a curved tip, and the large, orange leaves are very narrow and elongated with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
Each stem splits 6 to 11 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid white petals decorated with crimson lines and a light red central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 20 curved petals. They fall easily.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like freshly baked bread, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
