Climbing Mossflower
Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its gray stem is thin and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, moss green leaves are perforated with serrated edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
Around 60 medium-sized flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with solid orange petals and a gold central disk. The flower head is made up of 53 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. They fall easily.
It has a fairly strong scent that smells like new carpet, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
