Bluebell Fern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 61 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, straight stems covered in very thick, knobbly, dark green bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, thick, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue at the bottom and caramel with cream zig-zags at the top, flexible and crispy.

In early spring it produces many clusters of small, olive flowers with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like warm milk.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
