Bloodfern
Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This average-sized tree grows up to 60 meters (196.9 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.
The numerous branches are very short and slender, covered with large amounts of giant, blood red or sky blue needles. The needles themselves are resilient.
In late summer it produces tiny, cyan aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
