Silver Cube Flower
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)This colossal flower grows up to 10.3 feet (3.1 meters) tall. Its lime green or dull green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are thin and straight, and split into many branching stems at the top, and the miniature, orange leaves are pleated with smooth edges. 11 leaves grow at the base of the stem.
Each stem splits 6 to 10 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 55 cm (21.7 inches) wide, with petals that are generally silver; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 6 raised, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.
It has a soft scent that smells like vomit, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
