Limevine

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The fan-like stem is lime green, and is covered in sharp spines. The angular, slate trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the top. Its yellow-green branches are very short, thin and wispy and start growing at the base the stem.

The large amounts of ripped-edged, thick leaves are green with yellow tips. They are flimsy, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of lime and orange, with a purple central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like bleach.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the blue flesh is smooth, and the white sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
