Crimson vine

This large bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 157 feet (47.9 meters) and growing as high as 14 feet (4.3 meters). It prefers to grow on rock formations.

It takes 2 years for the gray-green stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and remain soft and fleshy.

The very thin, fuzzy leaves reach up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) in length. They are purple on the sides and crimson at the center, and have rounded edges.

During late spring, the bine produces bunches of giant blood red flowers.
