Burgundy Trumpetvine

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big flower grows up to 5.3 feet (1.6 meters) tall. Its burgundy stems grow in bunches of 5 and are thin with a curved tip, and the small, moss green leaves are heart-shaped with tattered edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide, with orange petals and a pink central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 13 raised, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like misty mornings, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
