Burgundy Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This average-sized tree grows up to 14 meters (45.9 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 594 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a stocky, twisting trunk covered in thin, waxy, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy-brown.
The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of rough, small, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are dark purple at the bottom and deep green with brilliant blue edges at the top.
In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, bronze blossoms with 6 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like pot-purri.
In late summer it forms giant, intense orange, shelled seeds.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
