Burgundy Pine
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 12 meters (39.4 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in thin, silky, burgundy bark, and inside, the light wood is white.
The numerous branches trail down towards the ground, with hundreds of twigs covered with handfuls of miniature, gray needles. The needles themselves are tough.
In late summer it produces large, light grey, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
