Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The wide stem is brown or drab green, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible crimson spines. The irregular-edged, 4 pointed leaves are either green, or crimson with blue dots. Thick bunches of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are frail, and take some effort to detach.

It is quick growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of lime and red, with a grey central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 5 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like cherry.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the copper flesh is smooth, and the beige sap is thin.

It can flourish even in standing water.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It is suitable for making strong rope
