Crimson Vine

Climbing plant type: Vine (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short vine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 13 feet (4.0 meters) and growing as high as 544 feet (165.8 meters).

It takes 4 months for the copper stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 1 cm (0.4 inches) and are soft and flexible.

The finger-like, leathery leaves reach up to 5 inches (13 cm) in length. They are lilac and crimson, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the vine produces lots of small orange flowers, and during the late autumn, after flowering, it produces a handful of tiny seed pods.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
