Blackbark

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This enormous tree grows up to 150 meters (492.2 feet) tall and lives seemingly forever, with many known specimen being tens of thousands of years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The small handful of branches are short stubs, covered with large amounts of huge, yellow-green needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, faded orange aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It can flourish even in standing water.
