Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 627 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in rough, gray bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of covered in fine hairs, small, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are light green with aquamarine tips.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, cyan blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like meat.

In late summer it forms large, deep orange berries.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
