Bloodvine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized tree grows up to 34 meters (111.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 177 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in ridged, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.

The small bunches of branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, miniature, very thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are blood red and lilac.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, indigo blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like glue.

In late summer it forms tiny, gold, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

The stems are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
