Clinging Mahogany

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in very thick, rough, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The small handful of branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of rough, miniature, 2 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in pink, sky blue and olive varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, vivid blue blossoms with long, tapering petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like onion.

In late summer it forms tiny, vivid orange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
