This lime moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On trees, and In damp forests.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they spread and grow quickly, and is slightly flexible.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release thousands of spores.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
