Sunset

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This big flower grows up to 2.2 feet (66 cm) tall. Its silver stem is very thin, and the huge, yellow leaves are slender, pointed with smooth edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Dozens of tiny flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide, with faded red petals that gradient shift to orange on the outer edge. The central disk is orange. The flower head is largely flat with several raised narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like burning wood, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
