Twistvine Pine

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy.

The excessive amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of giant, thin leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid ashy green or olive, with white edges.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, light brown blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

In late summer it produces , circular fruit. The rough green skin is stretchy and edible when boiled; it is sweet and bitter, and the very soft light purple flesh is bitter and salty and syrupy. The caramel seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
