Blackwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives seemingly forever, with many known specimen being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in thin, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short and thin, with dozens of twigs covered with thick bunches of tiny, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are strong.

In late summer it produces giant, black, shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
