Climbing Lilac
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This average-sized tree grows up to 26 meters (85.3 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 277 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in very thick, smooth, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.
The tangled mess of branches are very long and thin and are covered with small amounts of clammy, huge, wide leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the edges and crimson at the center.
In early spring, it produces many bunches of small, sky blue blossoms with 7 oblong shaped petals. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like roses.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, crimson berries.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
