Blackleaf Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This modest-sized tree grows up to 10 meters (32.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 628 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in silky, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is black.
The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of crispy, miniature, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are brown and white.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, grey, tough-shelled seeds.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for making paper
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
