Sky Blueberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, dark gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is light brown.

The small handful of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small bunches of large, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in sky blue and amber varieties.

In early spring, it produces many balls of tiny, turquoise blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like something putrid.

In late autumn it produces , perforated fruit. The rubbery pale yellow skin is peel-able and spicy, and the very soft light brown flesh is extremely savoury and very dry. The cream seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
