Silver Spine Caudiciform
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The thick stem is moss green, and is dotted with small silver spines. It has a crooked, wide, green trunk atop a thick, gnarled clump of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are wide and cream and are short and slender.
The rounded-edged, needle-like leaves are generally purple. They are frail, and take some effort to detach.
It is fast growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of indigo and bold purple, with a bronze central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of dozens of raised, narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like sugar.
The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the cyan flesh is waxy, and the copper sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
