Burgundy-Brown Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 34 meters (111.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 654 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, straight trunk covered in delicate, silky, dark brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.
The branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of crispy, tiny, broad, flat leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid green with vibrant yellow streaks.
In early spring, it produces many large, violet blossoms with circular petals. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like mint.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, black, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
