Speckled

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 50 meters (164.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 188 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in hard, ridged, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of waxy, tiny, sickle shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either brown, or black with gold dots.

In late summer it forms large, olive seed pods.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and overwhelmingly spicy.
