Hazel Flower

This big flower grows up to 6.1 feet (1.9 meters) tall. Its moss green stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, moss green leaves are slender, pointed with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 6 to 12 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 35 cm (13.8 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of hazel. The flower head is made up of 4 petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has lots of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
