Indigo

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its brown stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 3 and are thick and straight, and split into many branching stems halfway up, and the large, brown leaves are dark light brown or indigo on the underside and are perforated with toothed edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 10 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of bright blue. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. They are sturdy.

It has an intense scent that smells like faeces, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
