Red-Velvet Flower
Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its pink-red stem is very thin and straight, and the huge, moss green leaves are circular with rounded edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with alternating petals of lime and black, with a bold yellow central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 54 curved petals. They detach easily.
It has a fairly strong scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has excessive amounts of pollen, but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
