Azureberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in wrinkled, brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.
The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, broad, flat leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in azure, yellow and drab green varieties.
In early spring, it produces balls of medium-sized, drab green blossoms with long, narrow petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like old books.
In early winter it produces , triangular fruit. The hairy grey skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy amber flesh is sweet and very dry. The hazel seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It can survive a very long time without water.
