Burgundy Pine
Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for over 3,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 3947 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in smooth, dark green bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.
The sparse patches of branches trail down towards the ground, with thousands of twigs covered with handfuls of giant, burgundy needles. The needles themselves are rigid.
In late summer it produces giant, gold seed pods.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
