Copperwood
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 330 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is pale brown-grey.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of waxy, tiny, fan-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are vibrant green and black.
In late summer it forms small, green aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
