Mahogany
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows the first year, flowers the second year, then dies)This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 184 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, crooked trunk covered in delicate, smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.
The tangled mess of branches are short and thin and are covered with small amounts of crispy, tiny, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are yellow and blue.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, bold orange blossoms with 2 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like a woman.
In late summer it forms giant, lilac aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
It is overwhelmingly resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
