Blackbirch
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 215 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.
The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of leathery, small, fan-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in green, bronze and copper varieties.
In late summer it forms small, cyan berries.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
