Pinkvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in very thick, silky, gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to bronze at the top.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, indigo blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like a damp log.

In mid-autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The leathery lilac skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft cream flesh is sour and savoury and sticky. The light brown seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
