Peach

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of huge, pleated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid peach or deep green, with red splotches.

In early spring, it produces bunches of small, blue blossoms with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like warm milk.

In mid-summer it produces small, wide fruit. The sticky blood red skin is tough and inedible, and the soft vivid yellow flesh is bitter and savoury and dry. The lime seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
