Copperwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives seemingly forever, with many known specimen being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the dense wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are very long and thick, covered with large amounts of huge, copper needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces tiny, caramel, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
