Copperleaf
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 38 meters (124.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 112 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, dark brown bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.
The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of smooth, small, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are gray-green with indigo tips.
In early spring, it produces clusters of giant, azure blossoms with 3 shield-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like pine needles.
In late summer it forms small, slate, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It has impressive regenerative properties.
