Caramel Flower

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its dark orange stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the small, hazel or lilac leaves are slender, pointed with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Each stem splits 5 to 9 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with cyan petals on the lower layer and caramel petals decorated with amber dots on the inner layer. The central disk is light grey. The flower head is made up of 4 petals in raised layers. They detach easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like faeces, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

It is suitable for making paper
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
